Welcome to the partnership
between Bavaria and Western Cape!

Both networks agree on their collaboration at the background of the regional partnership between the free state of Bavaria in Germany and the province of Western Cape in South Africa. The two networks want to act together and fair for worldwide sustainable development, especially in Bavaria and Western Cape.

Main areas of collaboration are

  • to raise people’s awareness about the causes of and the ways to solve global problems and to afford education for sustainable development and social transformation
  • to raise awareness for people’s responsibilities for a globally responsible development approach and to adjust their thoughts and local action this way
  • to know more about the partner’s work and to support it mutually
  • mutual exchanges about activities and research for common action possibilities (campaigns, workshops, seminars, conferences, training …)
  • mutual assistance in the dialogue between civil society and government
  • topics as e.g. fight against poverty, fair organisation of globalisation (strengthening of environmental and social standards) ...

Bavaria

The One World Network of Bavaria is the regional non-profit network of action groups, institutions, fair trade shops and local one-world-networks committed to development policy and situated in Bavaria, one of the 16 federal states of Germany. All our members are engaged in one world solidarity work and are raising awareness. Therefore we deal particularly with sustainable development, fair trade, international labour standards / corporate social responsibility and education for sustainable development.

Western Cape

The Western Cape Network for Community Peace and Development is a collectively guided independent and registered non-profit provincial umbrella organization of NGO’s working in the field of conflict resolution, youth, women, community development and peace building and sport in the Western Cape. Its members share common values and so empowerment, youth development, peace building, conflict management, democracy, sustainable development, human dignity, diversity, integrity, transparency, accountability and nondiscrimination became binding principles. These common values help to create conflict free and sustainable communities and provide a platform for the network to work from.

Während eines gemeinsamen Seminars mit VertreterInnen des Western Cape Networks for Community Peace and Development konnte das Eine Welt Netzwerk Bayern am 12. Juni 2010 in Kapstadt u.a. auch Staatsminister Siegfried Schneider, Westkaps Sozialminister Dr. Ivan Meyer, Dr. Linus Förster MdL, Thorsten Glauber MdL, Alexander König MdL, Theresa Schopper MdL und natürlich VertreterInnen aus den beiden Netzwerken (u.a. Nariman Laattoe und Jack Mahoney) begrüßen.

Besuch Helen Zille 28. September 2011

Im Rahmen der Partnerschaft Bayern-Westkap war Westkaps Premier Helen Zille am 28. September 2011 zu Gast beim Eine Welt Netzwerk Bayern e.V. und informierte sich über das Engagement bayerischer Eine Welt-Gruppen in Westkap, die Förderung Fairen Handels sowie die neue Internetseite www.bavaria-westerncape.de.

June 2011: Delegation from Western Cape visiting EineWeltHaus München

Im Rahmen der Partnerschaft zwischen Bayern und Westkap besuchte eine Delegation unter Leitung von Westkaps Kulturminister Dr. Ivan Meyer am 27. Juni 2011 das Münchner EineWeltHaus. Minister Dr. Meyer, im Kabinett zugleich für die Partnerschaft mit Bayern zuständig, zeigte sich beeindruckt vom EineWeltHaus - einem Ort für gelebte Toleranz, Kulturaustausch und Treffpunkt für Menschen aller Nationen. Prof. Marion Keim, Delegationsmitglied und Vertreterin des Western Cape Network for Community, Peace and Development, zeigte sich ebenso begeistert und wünschte sich ein solches Haus auch in Westkap.
